About Dr.
Wilson
Education,
Training, and Certification
After graduating from the
University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1984, Dr.
David Wilson completed a three year Internal Medicine
Residency at University of Okalahoma Health Sciences
Center. This was immediately followed by a five
year General Surgery Residency at the Yale affiliated
program of St. Mary's Hospital in Connecticut.
Subsequent education includes a formal one week
microsurgery course at University of Texas, MD Anderson
Medical Center, in Houston.
He is certified by the American
Board of Surgery and also by the American Board of
Internal Medicine. He is licensed to practice by the State of
Oklahoma.
Professional Experience Prior to Reversal Practice
Following residency training, Dr.
Wilson practiced general surgery, becoming a partner in
Regional Surgical Associates, Great Bend, Kansas, for
two years before moving to his present location in the
Muskogee, Oklahoma area in 1994, where he opened his
private surgery practice. In January 2004,
Dr. Wilson ended his provider contracts with insurance
companies and government agencies as a result of a
matter of conscience regarding being bound by contract
to these organizations that pay for elective abortions.
Consequently, his general surgery practice became unviable.
Reversal Practice
Dr. Wilson's interest in vasectomy
reversal began in 1999 at the time of his own personal
reversal. Dr. Wilson began his full time
reversal practice in October of 2005, and has performed over
700 microscopic
reversals as of June, 2008. He is currently
performing over 300 microsurgical reversals a year. These patients
are coming from across the continent (California to
Maine and Canada to Mexico) as well as from Hawaii and
foreign countries. Ninety-five percent of
these
patients, prior to their procedures, agreed to speak
with future potential patients, and he would be happy to
provide the past two year list for you to call from.
Dr. Wilson has proven experience in
microsurgical vasectomy reversal. One hundred percent of
the semen analyses from his patients less than 3 years from
vasectomy show return of live sperm. This
corresponds to a 90% pregnancy rate for this subgroup in
the practice. Ninety-three percent of the semen analyses
from the patients 3-8 years from vasectomy show return
of live sperm. This group has a pregnancy rate of 77%. Dr. David Wilson is uniquely qualified to offer you safe
office based microscopic vasectomy reversal
microsurgery. He desires to provide you a
comfortable, competent, cost conscious reversal.
